About the funder

The Robert Luther Foundation promotes science and research in the field of optoelectronics and photonics within the Department of Physics at the Technical University of Dresden, in memory of Prof. Robert Luther, the first director of the Scientific-Photographic Institute (today IAP) of TU Dresden. The purpose of the foundation is, in particular, the support, organization, and implementation of scientific events and research projects, the awarding of research contracts, the granting of scholarships and travel allowances, the promotion of research stays by guest scientists, the awarding of study scholarships, as well as the conduct of further training events. The foundation is non-profit and is administered in trust by the Donors' Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany.

Mission & Vision

The Robert Luther Foundation is committed to creating a sustainable and broader financial base for science and research at the Dresden Integrated Center for Applied Physics and Photonic Materials (IAP) of TU Dresden, in memory of the renowned institute founder Prof. Robert Luther. Our goal is to continue and permanently preserve the Scientific-Photographic Institute founded in 1908.

Target groups

The funding programs and activities of the Robert Luther Foundation are aimed at scientists and early-career researchers at the Institute of Applied Physics at TU Dresden, particularly doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers in the fields of optoelectronics and photonics, as well as visiting scientists and students who advance innovative projects in these disciplines.
