About the funder
The Rolf-Herber-Stiftung is a legally recognized foundation under civil law, established in 2021 following the death of Prof. Dr. Rolf Herber. According to its statutes, its purpose is the promotion of science and research in transport law, particularly in maritime commercial law. The foundation aims to preserve the life’s work of its founder and to support young researchers, students, and lecturers in discussing, researching, and further developing German and international maritime commercial and transport law.

Mission & Vision
The Rolf-Herber-Stiftung has made it its mission to promote transport law science and research, particularly maritime law. It considers it its duty to support the advancement of German and international maritime and transport law and to more firmly anchor its issues within the context of international trade in research, science, and education.
Target groups
Funding is provided particularly to female and male students, young researchers, as well as lecturers who focus on German and international maritime trade and transport law. The foundation supports dissertations and, in justified cases, also master's theses, covers printing subsidies, and enables participation in professional events, seminars, symposia, or moot courts.
