Ruth und Willi Biermann-Stiftung
About the funder
The Ruth and Willi Biermann Foundation was established in December 2005 by Ruth and Willi Biermann in Enger. It follows a cross-generational approach with two main funding priorities: supporting children with life-threatening oncological diseases and promoting people who themselves or in their environment experience dementia. The foundation finances defined individual projects primarily in East Westphalia-Lippe, especially in the district of Herford, and annually allocates approximately €60,000–70,000 from the foundation’s capital income as well as raised donations. Administration and governing bodies work on a voluntary basis to keep administrative costs low.

Mission & Vision
"Helping those in need does not mean giving handouts, but sowing seeds." With this guiding principle, the foundation supports sustainable assistance for children with cancer and people with dementia. The goal is to create long-lasting effective structures that strengthen and support affected individuals and their families across generations.
Target groups
The foundation is aimed, on the one hand, at needy children and adolescents with severe oncological or cardiological diseases, as well as at institutions and specialist disciplines that treat this target group. On the other hand, it supports elderly people with dementia and their relatives through counseling, networks, and specialized care programs. Both individuals and non-profit organizations in the fields of pediatric and adolescent medicine as well as elderly and dementia care are supported.
