Selbstbestimmt leben – Stiftung der BAG Selbsthilfe – Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Selbsthilfe von Menschen mit Behinderung und chronischen Erkrankungen und ihrer Angehörigen e.V.

The Selbstbestimmt leben Foundation was established as a legally capable, non-profit foundation under civil law by the Federal Association of Self-Help (BAG SELBSTHILFE e. V.). It promotes self-help and political representation of people with disabilities and chronic illnesses, as well as their relatives, nationwide. The focus is on the development of supraregional information and counseling centers, training and further education opportunities, the involvement of affected individuals in legislation and administration, and the creation of a barrier-free environment. Current priorities of its work include events and the topic of "Climate Change and Self-Help Work."

The Selbstbestimmt leben Foundation is committed to ensuring that people with disabilities and chronic illnesses lead an equal, self-determined life and can actively participate in all social and political spheres. By strengthening the self-help movement and promoting information, counseling, and educational services, the Foundation aims to sustainably establish inclusion, participation, and self-advocacy.

The funding supports people with physical, mental, intellectual, and sensory disabilities as well as individuals with chronic illnesses and their relatives. The target groups include individuals, self-help groups, and associations at regional and supra-regional levels that advocate for the rights, participation, and self-determination of people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
