Senator-Kirch-Stiftung
About the funder
The Senator-Kirch-Stiftung was established in 1954 based on a testamentary donation from Amanda Doering. The non-profit foundation, headquartered in the Altona district, annually awards one-time in-kind or purpose-specific monetary grants from the interest income of its capital, which is invested with fiduciary security, to needy children, adolescents (up to 21 years), and seniors (from 60 years) who have their main residence in Altona. The foundation's capital amounts to approximately 162,000 euros, from which about 5,000 euros are distributed annually to around 60 recipients. Examples of supported items include winter clothing, children's bicycles, toys, or annual swimming pool passes. There are no administrative costs, as the volunteer board members work without remuneration and the Altona district office supports the management.

Mission & Vision
Since 1954, we have been fulfilling the last wishes of disadvantaged children, adolescents, and seniors in the Altona district, bringing them small joys at Christmas or in special emergencies that they could not afford themselves. Independently and politically neutral, we dedicate the full proceeds of our foundation’s capital to needy residents of Altona.
Target groups
Funding is provided to individuals with their primary residence in the Altona district who are either under 21 years of age or over 60 years old and are experiencing financial hardship. Nominations for beneficiaries come from associations, social institutions, public agencies, or private individuals. The foundation's board reviews the social need and the appropriateness of the requests, which are considered exclusively once a year (at the end of December).
