About the funder

The Senator for Labour, Social Affairs, Youth and Integration Bremen is a supreme state authority of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. It is responsible for the coordinated development and implementation of state policy in the areas of the labour market, social affairs, child and youth welfare, as well as integration. The authority is divided into several departments and divisions, ranging from the executive leadership (Senator, State Councillors) to internal staff divisions (e.g., Integration Policy, Division 01 – Senator’s Office). It develops funding programs for civil society, social, and integration-related engagement and oversees state action plans, for example, against homo-, trans- and interphobia.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is to promote equal opportunities and participation in Bremen society. We shape active labor market and social policies, strengthen families, young people, and individuals with a migration background, and advocate for inclusion, prevention, and the reduction of discrimination. We work across departments and cooperatively with municipalities, associations, and initiatives to establish sustainable, needs-based services and funding programs.

Target groups

Our funding programs and services are aimed at citizens in Bremen, particularly disadvantaged or vulnerable groups such as families, single parents, young people, refugees, and LGBTIQ*. Additionally, we support non-profit and public organizations, associations, and initiatives in Bremen, as well as projects and initiatives focused on labor, social affairs, youth, and integration that are based in the state of Bremen.
