About the funder
The Senate Department for Science, Health, and Care (SenWGP) is a supreme state authority of the State of Berlin, headquartered in Berlin-Kreuzberg. It was established in 2021 through the merger of the science and health departments and has borne its current name since April 2023, after the gender equality responsibilities were transferred to another Senate Department. The authority is responsible for university development and funding, non-university research, the Charité, infection and population protection, hospital services, health reporting, as well as nursing professions and care facilities. Well-known programs include: State Teaching Award, Care 2030, Berlin Hospice Work Support.

Mission & Vision
The Senate Department for Science, Health, Care and Equality sees itself as an administration oriented towards the well-being of its citizens. Its goal is to enable Berliners to lead a health-oriented, self-determined, and sustainable life—through high-quality health and care services, academic education, as well as excellent science, research, and teaching.
Target groups
Institutions, organizations, and individuals in Berlin are eligible for funding: universities, research institutions, hospitals, care facilities, outpatient care services, non-profit healthcare providers, as well as students (BAföG). Geographical focus: State of Berlin. A fundamental requirement is generally a connection to Berlin or activity within the Berlin health, care, or science system.
