The Sigmund Freud Foundation for the Promotion of Psychoanalysis e.V. was founded in 1971 and is based in Frankfurt am Main. As a non-profit association, it promotes psychoanalytic research and teaching, among other things, through the exploration and publication of Sigmund Freud's works and letters in the original language, the support of innovative scientific work on the theory, practice, and history of psychoanalysis, public relations such as the annual Sigmund Freud Lectures at Goethe University Frankfurt, the organization of scientific events and conferences, as well as the promotion of young talent through interest-free training loans and awards. The foundation is registered in the Frankfurt am Main association register and pursues exclusively scientific purposes in accordance with the German Tax Code.

Mission & Vision
The Sigmund Freud Foundation regards the work of Sigmund Freud as the central reference of psychoanalytic thought. Its mission is to advance Freud's insights and to make them effective in research, teaching, and the public sphere. In doing so, it supports excellent projects and initiatives for young professionals to sustainably strengthen psychoanalysis as a socially relevant science.
Target groups
Funding is provided to scientists and students of psychoanalysis as well as related disciplines, editors and researchers working on editions, translations, and critical complete editions of Freud's works, participants in IPV-recognized psychoanalysis training (DPV, DPG, VAKJP), as well as organizers and coordinators of scientific conferences, seminars, and lectures. The foundation addresses both established researchers and early-career scholars in order to support innovative psychoanalytic projects.
