The Sparkassenstiftung Sömmerda is a non-profit, legally capable foundation under civil law based in Sömmerda. Founded on August 31, 2000, it has, according to its statutes, an endowment capital of €8.4 million (statutory figure) or €6.4 million (as of 2016). The income generated from this capital annually supports around 40 funding projects as well as its own initiatives such as scholarships for talented youth and young adults. The foundation funds project-related and ongoing costs in the fields of arts and culture, monument preservation and local heritage, science and research, environmental and nature conservation, sports, child and youth welfare, elderly care, healthcare, and social welfare – always with the aim of strengthening social life in the Sömmerda district.

Mission & Vision
The Sparkassenstiftung Sömmerda is committed to promoting civic engagement and sustainably strengthening the cultural, sporting, and social infrastructure in the district of Sömmerda. We support non-profit associations and institutions that make a tangible contribution to the diversity and quality of life in Central Thuringia through their projects, thereby creating impulses for a sustainable community.
Target groups
Only recognized non-profit associations, institutions, or legal entities under public law based in the district of Sömmerda are eligible to apply. Funding is provided for self-contained individual projects as well as ongoing costs that are regionally significant and strengthen civic engagement. Applications are submitted twice a year (deadlines: February 5 and September 15) via an electronic form; approvals are granted by the board of trustees in March/April and October/November respectively.
