About the funder

The Spreewälder Kulturstiftung was founded in 2002 by Christine and Michael Clausing and is dedicated to the promotion of art and culture, local heritage and history, environmental and nature conservation, as well as landscape management in the Spreewald region. A special focus lies on the preservation of Bronze and Iron Age artifacts (Lusatian culture, approx. 1300–500 BC) and the communication of their historical and cultural significance. The foundation organizes international expert conferences, has annually awarded the Spreewald Literature Scholarship since 2008, initiates readings and anthologies, realizes the BronzeZeitGeist monument in Burg (Spreewald), and develops audio guides for regional cultural sites.
