St. Georg Stiftung Sottrum
About the funder
The St. Georg Foundation Sottrum was established in 2008 by committed members of the Evangelical Lutheran St. Georg Parish Sottrum to permanently secure and expand church life in the villages belonging to the parish despite declining revenues from the regional church. The initial foundation capital of €25,000 has been increased to €180,000 through generous private donors and businesspeople. The foundation uses the interest income and earmarked endowments to co-finance, among other things, pastoral and deacon positions, promote youth and elderly work, support the preservation of church buildings, and implement cultural and social projects.

Mission & Vision
The mission of the St. Georg Foundation Sottrum is the sustainable promotion of ecclesiastical and diaconal life in the St. Georg parish community Sottrum. By collecting endowments and donations as well as preserving the foundation's capital, a reliable financing structure is to be established so that the interest income can be used in the long term to co-finance personnel positions, structural measures, and community offerings for all generations.
Target groups
The target group of the foundation comprises the parish members of all villages within the St. Georg Church Parish Sottrum, as well as potential supporters – private individuals, businesses, and associations – who wish to promote the ecclesiastical, diaconal, and cultural life in the region through endowments or donations, thereby securing the future of parish work.
