Stiftung Abtei Kloster Engelthal

The Stiftung Abtei Kloster Engelthal was established in December 2004 as a non-profit foundation to preserve the Abbey of Kloster Engelthal – a historic Cistercian nunnery, inhabited by Benedictine nuns since 1962 – as a spiritually significant place for future generations. The foundation safeguards the cultural and spiritual heritage of the abbey, promotes community projects, and supports the development of a site that enables both spiritual deepening and cultural encounters. It manages a capital whose proceeds are used to finance urgent maintenance and development measures as well as to promote ecumenism and other charitable initiatives.

“Encourage us to build a bridge from the past through the present into the future.” With this guiding principle, the Stiftung Abtei Kloster Engelthal promotes the conscious preservation and transmission of monastic tradition and culture. It is committed to the preservation and development of the abbey as a spiritually inspiring place open to people of all generations and denominations.

The target group of the foundation includes all donors, benefactors, and testators who wish to secure the cultural, spiritual, and ecological heritage of the Abbey Kloster Engelthal in the long term. In particular, the foundation addresses private sponsors, church institutions, and support associations that are willing to support the abbey's projects through endowments, donations, or legacies, thereby making a sustainable contribution to the preservation of this cultural heritage.
