About the funder
The non-profit Stiftung Auszubildendenwerk (foundation under civil law) creates affordable housing in Hamburg for trainees and complements this offering with educational support as well as low-threshold counseling and assistance services. Since 2016, it has operated residential complexes at four locations in Wandsbek (156 places), Harburg (191 places), Münzviertel (209 places), and Altona (145 places). In small 2- to 4-person shared apartments and modern studios, furnished rooms are complemented by spacious communal areas for social activities and counseling services. Financing partners include political bodies, social partners, chambers, associations, and companies, as well as tax-deductible donations from the support association.

Mission & Vision
"More than just affordable housing for trainees": The Stiftung Auszubildendenwerk is committed to providing trainees in Hamburg with an affordable, safe, and communal home. Through educational support and social services, it promotes stability and integration to support successful training completion.
Target groups
The foundation's services are aimed at trainees (16–26 years old) with a state-recognized training contract in Hamburg. Both minor trainees (from 16 years old) and adult trainees are eligible; a prerequisite is that the training company is based in Hamburg. The dormitories provide young professionals with a social environment to promote mobility and career success.
