About the funder

Founded in 1889, the Beethoven-Haus Bonn association operates the Beethoven-Haus as a central cultural institution dedicated to preserving and conveying the life, work, and legacy of Ludwig van Beethoven. Its holdings include Beethoven’s birthplace and museum, which welcomes over 100,000 visitors annually; a globally significant collection of original manuscripts and artifacts; a musicological research department (Beethoven Archive) with a library and publishing house; as well as the Hermann J. Abs Chamber Music Hall, featuring a year-round concert program. The non-profit status of the association and its foundation, established in 1999, is institutionally supported by the federal government, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Rhineland Regional Association, and the city of Bonn. Approximately 900 friends, patrons, and members engage internationally to provide long-term material and ideological support for the Beethoven-Haus.
