About the funder
The Foundation for the Promotion of Talented Individuals in Vocational Education (SBB) is a non-profit limited liability company based in Bonn. On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (formerly BMFTR), it coordinates the nationwide implementation of two central scholarship programs – the Continuing Education Scholarship and the Advancement Scholarship. As a service provider for vocational talents, the SBB informs, advises, and supports young graduates of dual vocational training as well as experienced professionals in their academic and professional further qualification. The foundation is sponsored by the chamber organizations of the commercial economy and the liberal professions.

Mission & Vision
The SBB supports vocational talents who have demonstrated exceptional performance in their training and profession. As a service provider and primary contact, it assists scholarship recipients with comprehensive and reliable information, prompt advice, and trustworthy support. By networking with partners from vocational and academic education, the SBB fosters exchange, broadens perspectives, and accompanies the development of those it supports. It acts with appreciation, responsibility, and transparency, and uses the funds provided economically and for their intended purpose.
Target groups
The funding programs of the SBB are aimed at graduates of dual vocational training (including health professions) who seek professional, interdisciplinary, or part-time qualifications (continuing education scholarship), as well as at experienced professionals with outstanding professional achievements who wish to pursue a university degree following their professional practice (advancement scholarship).
