About the funder

The Brandenburg Village Churches Foundation was established in July 2008 by the Förderkreis Alte Kirchen Berlin-Brandenburg e. V. together with the Foundation for the Preservation of Church Architectural Monuments in Germany (Stiftung KiBa). It is a non-independent subsidiary foundation of Stiftung KiBa with the aim of preserving the surviving village churches in the state of Brandenburg from decay, sale, or demolition. The foundation is administered free of charge by Stiftung KiBa in Hanover, while its independence and autonomy are ensured by its own statutes. To date, the Brandenburg Village Churches Foundation has supported numerous restoration projects in villages throughout Brandenburg, thereby strengthening the cultural and religious heritage of the region.
