About the funder

The Stiftung Denkmalpflege Hamburg was established in 1978 by the City of Hamburg as a foundation under civil law and is dedicated to the preservation and care of Hamburg's architectural, artistic, and garden monuments. Its range of tasks includes the acquisition, restoration, and maintenance of its own listed buildings, the promotion of external monument preservation projects, as well as educational efforts to raise public awareness of the importance of monument conservation. The foundation finances its work through rental income from its own properties, returns from asset management, and donations from Hamburg citizens and institutions.

Mission & Vision

The Hamburg Monument Preservation Foundation is committed to the active preservation of Hamburg's architectural and garden heritage. Through the acquisition and professional restoration of listed properties, the support of external projects, and civic engagement, we aim to enhance the appreciation of historic architectural culture and promote monument protection as a collective responsibility.

Target groups

Our funding programs are aimed at owners and authorized users (e.g., leaseholders, hereditary building right holders) of listed buildings in Hamburg who wish to apply for restoration funding; at organizers, publishers, or exhibition operators with heritage conservation relevance seeking project-based support; as well as at committed citizens, initiatives, and institutions actively involved in preserving Hamburg's architectural and garden cultural heritage.
