About the funder

The Stiftung der Bremerhavener Wirtschaft is a legally capable non-profit foundation under civil law based in Bremerhaven. It was established on June 23, 2000, by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Bremerhaven and 22 local companies on the occasion of the IHK’s 125th anniversary. The foundation exclusively and directly pursues charitable purposes and is financed from the income of its endowment capital as well as from additional endowments and donations. It supports projects and initiatives in the fields of education, upbringing, art, culture, and sports, and awards the foundation prize, endowed with up to 5,000 euros, every two years.

Mission & Vision

The Stiftung der Bremerhavener Wirtschaft is committed to sustainably enhancing the quality of the Bremerhaven location through targeted support of education, upbringing, arts, culture, and sports. It aims to exemplify the responsibility and commitment of the local economy to the city and to support individuals and organizations that, through their social engagement, make a positive, long-term contribution to the development of Bremerhaven.

Target groups

The foundation's funding programs are aimed at tax-privileged public law entities, non-profit organizations, as well as individuals active in the fields of education and upbringing, arts and culture, or sports. Furthermore, initiatives and projects may apply whose impact is realized in Bremerhaven—regardless of the applicants' location—and which promote the social and economic development of the region with sustainable success.
