It was established on October 4, 1984, as a charitable foundation of the Stadtsparkasse and Landesleihbank Hanau. The foundation capital amounts to €6.448 million, the proceeds of which are earmarked for art and culture, monument preservation and local heritage, education and upbringing, as well as science and research in the former district of Hanau. The use of funds is decided by the board of trustees upon the proposal of the executive board.

Mission & Vision

The Stiftung der Sparkasse Hanau supports charitable projects and institutions in the fields of art and culture, monument preservation and heritage conservation, education and upbringing, as well as science and research. It promotes innovative ideas and contributes to preserving cultural and historical heritage. Regional focus is central: the commitment is directed towards the former Hanau district, aiming to sustainably enhance the quality of life and identity of its people.

Target groups

Eligible to apply are non-profit recognized associations, institutions, and municipalities within the area of the city of Hanau as well as the former district of Hanau, including the cities of Bruchköbel, Langenselbold, Maintal, Erlensee, and Nidderau, as well as the municipalities of Großkrotzenburg, Hammersbach, Neuberg, Niederdorfelden, Rodenbach, Ronneburg, and Schöneck. The prerequisite is that the project corresponds to at least one foundation purpose. Partial or full funding of specific measures is possible.
