About the funder
The Deutsche Hilfsgemeinschaft e.V. is a non-profit organization based in Hamburg that has been supporting people in need in the Hanseatic city for many decades. The focus of its assistance includes senior travel according to § 71 SGB XII, Christmas and food aid, children’s and youth recreational activities, as well as support for the homeless and other social welfare services. The DHG e.V. is financed through membership fees, donations from private individuals, foundations and companies, as well as public funding (including from the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg). The many projects are managed by full-time staff and a large network of volunteers.

Mission & Vision
The Deutsche Hilfsgemeinschaft e.V. is committed to supporting people in financial or social distress in Hamburg with unbureaucratic and heartfelt assistance. Its goal is to enable joy of life and participation by providing material aid, social encounters, and supervised leisure activities. The DHG e.V. believes in the power of voluntary commitment and the value of every donation, through which it fosters long-term solidarity and trust.
Target groups
The funding programs of DHG e.V. are aimed at elderly people (65 years and older) with low income or living in care homes, children and adolescents (8–15 years) from low-income families in Hamburg, single indigent individuals and families with children, as well as homeless people and other socially disadvantaged groups in Hamburg.
