Stiftung Ex Oriente

The Stiftung ex oriente is a legally recognized public foundation under civil law based in Munich. Its aim is to promote intercultural relations between Germany (particularly at the foundation's headquarters) and the countries to the east (especially China, East Asia, and Eastern Europe). The foundation supports projects in the fields of science and research, education, art and culture, youth welfare, charitable activities, and international understanding. Its activities include language instruction, scholarships, cultural events, exchange programs, and the awarding of prizes, scholarships, and aid measures.

The Stiftung Ex Oriente is committed to expanding the understanding of foreign languages and cultures as a foundation for international understanding. Through targeted support measures in education, research, and culture, it aims to strengthen intercultural dialogue between Germany and the eastern regions and to establish stable, long-term, partnership-based relationships.

The funding programs of the Stiftung Ex Oriente are aimed at learners and educators in schools and universities, researchers, cultural practitioners, as well as young people and disadvantaged children and adolescents from Germany, China, East Asia, and Eastern Europe. The focus is particularly on projects that promote language and cultural competence, facilitate intercultural exchange, and contribute to international understanding.
