About the funder
The FLEDERMAUS Foundation is the first and only German foundation dedicated exclusively to the protection of bats. Founded on November 13, 2009, by members of the Bat Protection and Research Interest Group in Thuringia (IFT e. V.), it develops and implements species conservation projects throughout Germany. Its focus is on endangered species such as the Lesser Horseshoe Bat in Thuringia, as well as on public relations and raising awareness of the role of bats in the ecosystem. The foundation is a founding member of BatLife Europe and the Federal Association for Bat Science Germany e. V. and works closely with research institutions, authorities, and volunteers.
