About the funder
The Healthy Earth – Healthy People Foundation gGmbH was founded in 2020 by Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen and is based in Berlin. It is dedicated to linking climate and health protection under the guiding principle: Healthy people exist only on a healthy Earth. The foundation mobilizes healthcare, politics, media, and society through communication based on scientific evidence to bring the topic of Planetary Health into political and public debate.

Mission & Vision
Climate protection is health protection. Our goal is to raise awareness among decision-makers in healthcare, politics, administration, media, and civil society about the connections between environmental and climate crises and human health, and to motivate them to take action. We develop and disseminate policy recommendations, educational and informational offerings, as well as creative campaigns to ensure that planetary health is embedded across all policy areas.
Target groups
The foundation's programs are aimed at decision-makers and stakeholders in the healthcare sector (e.g., hospitals, professional associations, care facilities), politicians and administrations at the municipal, state, and federal levels, journalists and multipliers reporting on climate and health, as well as civil society organizations and interested citizens committed to sustainable health policy.
