Stiftung Hamburg-Verbundenheit
About the funder
The trust foundation "Hamburg-Verbundenheit" operates under the umbrella of the BürgerStiftung Hamburg. It is dedicated to the creation and expansion of a permanent exhibition in the ruins of St. Nikolai Church to commemorate the 34,000 victims of the air raids during Operation "Gomorrha" in July/August 1943. The exhibition is intended to serve as a place of admonition and remembrance, making the history of the bombings and the fate of the victims tangible for visitors in a newly designed space. A total of 1,000,000 euros will be raised for the renovation and redesign, of which 800,000 euros come from public funds of the Hamburg Senate and approximately 200,000 euros from the funds of the Stiftung Hamburg-Verbundenheit.
