About the funder

The Hoffnung Foundation is a legally recognized, non-profit foundation under civil law, based in Kiel with a local mailing address in Fockbek. It was founded in 2004 by citizens of Schleswig-Holstein and is represented on a voluntary basis by a four-member board (Chairman: Rainer Albrecht, Olaf Schumacher, Prof. Dr. Martin Schrappe, PD Dr. Alexander Claviez). The purpose of the foundation is to raise funds for children and adolescents at the University Children's Hospital Kiel who are suffering from cancer. All proceeds and donations are used exclusively to support this patient group, particularly for art therapy financed by the foundation at the clinic.

Mission & Vision

The Hoffnung Foundation aims to enable psychological stabilization and coping with illness for children and adolescents with cancer at the University Children's Hospital Kiel through targeted support measures—particularly creative art therapy. It mobilizes donations and foundation income to create an atmosphere in which young patients can express their creativity, process fears, and find courage.
