Stiftung Internationale Sächsische Sängerakademie Torgau – Schloß Hartenfels

Private foundation

About the funder

The foundation "Internationale Sächsische Sängerakademie Torgau – Schloss Hartenfels" is a non-profit private foundation that, in close cooperation with the University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig and the University of Music "Carl Maria von Weber" Dresden, annually organizes a multi-day academy for young vocal talents in the historic setting of Hartenfels Castle. The work is substantively based on the rich musical tradition of the Renaissance city of Torgau: German song, German-language oratorio, and German opera, ranging from early song, oratorio, and operatic singing to contemporary music.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is to support young singers from both domestic and international backgrounds through high-quality masterclasses, concerts, and awards, to provide them with practical stage experience, and to keep alive the music-historical significance of Torgau as the cradle of German opera. We rely on excellent artistic guidance, personal mentoring, and an environment that fosters artistic development as well as professional exchange.

Target groups

The foundation's programs are aimed at vocal students from German and international universities, young singers from abroad who aspire to pursue university studies in Germany, as well as emerging professional artists seeking to deepen their vocal technique and stage practice.
