About the funder

The Kuratorium junger deutscher Film is a public foundation under civil law based in Wiesbaden, jointly supported by all 16 federal states. As the oldest and only cross-state film funding institution in Germany, it has been committed to promoting emerging film artists for over 60 years. Talents in the fields of talent film and children’s film are supported—from script development through project development to production. Approximately 400 applications are reviewed annually by independent selection committees; successful projects receive dramaturgical support and organizational assistance. The Kuratorium is regarded as a seal of quality within the industry and has supported, among others, Werner Herzog, Wim Wenders, and Tom Tykwer.
