Stiftung Leucorea

The LEUCOREA Foundation was established in 1994 as a public law foundation at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg to revive academic life at the historic site of the University of Wittenberg. It utilizes the listed building complex of the ‘Fridericianum’ as a modern conference and research center. LEUCOREA promotes research on the history of the Reformation and its cultural impacts up to the present day, organizes conferences, workshops, and graduate forums, and provides infrastructure for national and international scientific events.

The LEUCOREA Foundation is committed to continuing the tradition of the University of Wittenberg and providing scientific impetus in research and teaching. It aims to promote exchange between the humanities, cultural, and social sciences as an interdisciplinary platform and to provide researchers and students with high-quality facilities, infrastructure, and networks.

The offerings of the LEUCOREA Foundation are aimed at researchers, postdoctoral fellows, doctoral candidates, students, as well as university institutions and social organizations engaged in the history of the Reformation, its cultural impacts, and related fields of research. Additionally, the conference center is open to external research institutions and associations whose work aligns with the foundation's purpose.
