About the funder

Stiftung Meridian is a legally established foundation under civil law based in Berlin. It supports Berlin-based projects based on the principle of "help for self-help." The focus is on initiatives in the fields of education and upbringing, international understanding and democratic governance, arts and culture, sports, as well as assistance for people in need. The foundation was established in 2008 by Michael Arndt and has an initial capital of 1 million euros, which is continuously expanded through regular additional contributions. It exclusively pursues charitable and benevolent purposes and is conceptually involved in the projects it funds.

Mission & Vision

The Meridian Foundation sees its mission in closely linking personal success with the common good. Out of gratitude for the educational opportunities in Berlin, it is committed to the sustainable support of individuals and organizations. Under the guiding principle of "help for self-help," it supports educational projects, intercultural dialogue, democratic participation, cultural and sporting initiatives, as well as direct aid for those in need, with the aim of strengthening both social cohesion and individual development.

Target groups

The target group of the Stiftung Meridian consists of non-profit organizations, schools, cultural institutions, sports clubs, as well as individuals and groups in Berlin who are committed to education, intercultural exchange, democratic education, art, culture, sports, or supporting people in need. Projects that offer a clear benefit to the community and in which the foundation can actively participate are supported.
