About the funder
The Nature and Environment Foundation Rhineland-Palatinate (SNU) is a public law foundation based in Mainz. It was established in 1979 as the "Nature Conservation Foundation" and renamed to its current name in 1993. It supports projects in nature conservation, species protection, and environmental education and has already supported over 1,400 projects in Rhineland-Palatinate. Since 2015, it has also managed funds from compensatory payments under the intervention regulation. Mission & Vision
The Nature and Environment Foundation Rhineland-Palatinate shapes sustainable development in Rhineland-Palatinate and its diverse cultural landscape—through its own conservation projects as well as the funding of projects in nature and species protection and environmental education. It connects science, civil society, and administration for the long-term protection of species and habitats.
Target groups
Eligible to apply are non-profit associations and organizations as well as municipalities in Rhineland-Palatinate. Associations must contribute at least 10 percent of their own funds, municipal applicants at least 25 percent. The Species Knowledge Scholarship is aimed at individuals who wish to deepen their knowledge of native animal and plant species. The geographical funding focus is exclusively Rhineland-Palatinate.
