About the funder
Since 1990, the Nordfriesische Halligen Foundation has been committed through various projects to the preservation and promotion of the unique natural and cultural landscape of the Halligen. Its statutes define the central areas of responsibility: the promotion of culture, nature, coastal protection awareness, and homeland preservation on the Halligen. The foundation coordinates initiatives from Halligen residents, municipalities, state authorities, and sponsors alike and has played a key role in the establishment of Schleswig-Holstein’s statewide Halligen program. It is dedicated to securing the livelihoods of the Halligen communities, maintaining jobs in coastal protection and agriculture, and developing new, future-oriented economic sectors—such as tourism and the digital field.

Mission & Vision
The Stiftung Nordfriesische Halligen serves to promote culture, nature, coastal protection awareness, and the preservation of local heritage on the Halligen.
Target groups
The foundation's funding programs are aimed at the residents of the North Frisian Halligen, their municipal representatives, responsible state authorities, as well as other friends and supporters of the Halligen. The goal is to jointly develop and implement projects that ensure the long-term preservation of these unique living and cultural spaces.
