About the funder

The Stiftung Obdachlosenhilfe Bayern is a public-law foundation of the Free State of Bavaria, based in Augsburg. Since its establishment in December 2019, it has been promoting innovative, low-threshold, and cooperative projects aimed at improving the care and living conditions of homeless and unhoused people in all administrative districts of Bavaria. With seed funding ranging from €1,000 to €50,000, it supports initiatives from mobile counseling services to infrastructure projects such as contact centers, wound care centers, or community rooms. The office organizes an annual funding round, conducts public relations work, and cooperates closely with municipalities, independent welfare organizations, and other partners.

Mission & Vision

The mission of the Stiftung Obdachlosenhilfe Bayern is to effectively alleviate the extreme distress of homelessness and housing insecurity through targeted project funding. It aims to open up new perspectives for all those affected in Bavaria by supporting sustainable, innovative, and transferable projects that strengthen existing structures and promote social networking. In doing so, the foundation relies on transparency, professional expertise, and close collaboration with governmental and civil society actors.

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at organizations, initiatives, and providers of homeless assistance in Bavaria (non-profit corporations, public or private legal entities, local initiatives). Projects and measures that target people experiencing homelessness or those at risk of homelessness are supported. Also addressed are professionals and volunteers who provide direct assistance through the expansion of counseling centers, mobile services, training measures, or infrastructure projects. Cooperative initiatives that promote networking between municipalities, welfare associations, and other actors, and ensure low-threshold access, are also supported.
