Stiftung Pfefferwerk

Private foundation

About the funder

The Pfefferwerk Foundation was established in 1999 and officially recognized as a legal foundation under civil law in May 2000. The founding asset is the Pfefferberg property in the Berlin district of Prenzlauer Berg; the lease income from the former brewery forms the essential financial basis. Income is supplemented by third-party funds and donations (no donor provides more than 10% of the funds). On this basis, the foundation implements its own projects and supports initiatives of other non-profit organizations in the fields of vocational education, community work, monument preservation, environmental protection, culture, and international understanding.

Mission & Vision

The Pfefferwerk Foundation empowers disadvantaged individuals on their path to the labor market and promotes a social community in Berlin where everyone can seize their opportunities. Special support is provided to young and disadvantaged people in developing professional prospects. The Foundation provides funding for projects serving the common good and implements its own operational initiatives to sustainably improve inclusion, education, and participation.

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at non-profit recognized independent and public organizations based or operating in Berlin. Priority is given to projects that provide disadvantaged youth and young adults with career orientation, employment training, as well as intergenerational community work in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Individuals may be supported upon proof of need (charitable according to § 53 AO).
