About the funder

The Stiftung Rechnen is a legally capable, non-profit foundation under civil law based in Hamburg. Since its founding in October 2009 by comdirect (a brand of Commerzbank AG) and Börse Stuttgart GmbH, it has been actively and supportively committed to sustainably strengthening computational skills in society. The foundation develops its own programs and supports external projects to inspire enthusiasm for mathematics, create positive experiences with calculation, and provide impulses for everyday life with numbers.

Mission & Vision

The Stiftung Rechnen aims to inspire people of all ages to enjoy arithmetic and to reduce apprehension towards it. It is committed to promoting mathematical skills in the home, educational institutions, and professional life, improving the public perception of mathematics, and serving as a central contact point for all arithmetic educators.

Target groups

The funding programs of the Stiftung Rechnen are aimed at non-profit initiatives and educational institutions (e.g., kindergartens, schools, adult education) that implement projects to improve arithmetic skills. It supports multipliers, educators, parents, as well as organizations involved in educational work that deliver mathematics education in a practical, nationwide relevant, and high-quality manner.
