Stiftung Soziale Stadt

Public foundation

About the funder

Stiftung Soziale Stadt is a community foundation based in Dortmund that has supported the concentration of public funding on 13 Dortmund districts that are economically and socially disadvantaged since the end of 2010. It promotes disadvantaged population groups through self-help measures, creates (funded) jobs, supports school and vocational training, and contributes to improving social and health conditions in the neighborhoods. The foundation sees itself as a complement to public assistance programs and, in addition to financial support, offers a forum for conceptual discussions on the development of a social Dortmund. As a shareholder, it is also involved in non-profit companies such as GrünBau gGmbH and Viertelwerk gGmbH for sustainable structural development and employment promotion.
