About the funder

The Stiftung Studienfonds OWL is a non-profit foundation under civil law based in Paderborn. It was established in 2006 by the five regional universities (Bielefeld University, Paderborn University, Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences, and Detmold University of Music) to support high-achieving, committed, and partly financially needy students in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. The foundation awards both Germany and social scholarships and supports over 520 students annually with more than EUR 1.8 million. In addition to financial support, it offers an extensive non-material program including workshops, company visits, cultural events, and networking opportunities.

Mission & Vision

The Stiftung Studienfonds OWL aims to optimally develop the potential of young talents in East Westphalia-Lippe through targeted financial and non-material support. It seeks to motivate students to achieve excellence and pave their way to a successful professional future in the region. In doing so, the foundation relies on a strong network of universities, companies, foundations, and private individuals.

Target groups

Students of all disciplines from the five regional universities in Ostwestfalen-Lippe are supported, who distinguish themselves through outstanding achievements, social commitment, or life challenges. The target group includes high-achieving and motivated students who are additionally supported ideologically through a broad range of events and mentoring programs.
