Stiftung taubblind leben
About the funder
The Stiftung taubblind leben was established in 2010 as a trust foundation under the umbrella of the "Stiftung gemeinsam handeln" of the Paritätischer Stifterverbund in NRW and has been recognized as an independent foundation under civil law since August 2014. It is the first nationwide foundation dedicated exclusively to the life situation of deafblind and severely hearing and visually impaired people. Using funds from grants, donations, and endowment assets, it supports measures to improve independence, counseling, assistance, housing options, early childhood and youth support, as well as the strengthening of self-help groups. To date, it has implemented several qualification projects, research cooperations, and assistive device initiatives and was awarded the German Engagement Prize and the “Ein Herz für Taubblinde” (A Heart for the Deafblind) award in 2014.

Mission & Vision
The foundation's purpose is to support deafblind individuals, for example, by improving their living conditions (independently, within the family, or in a suitable facility) or through other measures such as counseling, supporting self-help groups, or other initiatives and services aimed at enhancing the quality of life for deafblind and hearing-vision impaired people.
Target groups
The Stiftung taubblind leben is aimed at deafblind and severely hearing and visually impaired individuals of all age groups in Germany. The focus is on adolescents and adults affected, who are to be supported in their independence, participation, and quality of life through targeted counseling, assistance placement, housing options, and qualification programs. In the long term, early intervention services for children born deafblind are also to be established.
