About the funder
The Stiftung Trauerbegleitung und Bestattungskultur Hannover und Niedersachsen was founded in 1999 on the initiative of the Feuerbestattungsverein w.V. (today Feuerbestattungsgesellschaft Hannover und Niedersachsen mbH). It is recognized as a non-profit organization and promotes education and further training in the field of grief counseling as well as the preservation and development of funeral and mourning culture in Lower Saxony and Bremen. For over 20 years, it has supported volunteers and full-time staff in grief, hospice, and palliative care through training and continuing education programs, developed networks, and financed regionally focused projects related to grief counseling and funeral culture.

Mission & Vision
The foundation is committed to addressing dying, death, and grief as topics and to empowering people in dealing with them. It promotes the training and continuing education of volunteers and professionals in grief counseling, develops networks in hospice and palliative care, and advocates for a modern, life-affirming cemetery and funeral culture.
Target groups
Funding is primarily provided to non-profit associations, federations, public-law corporations, as well as altruistic initiatives based or operating in Lower Saxony and Bremen. The main recipients are organizations and groups engaged in grief and end-of-life support, as well as projects and actors in the field of funeral culture. The foundation thus targets volunteers and full-time staff who implement innovative educational offerings and cultural initiatives in the context of mourning.
