Stiftung trias gemeinnützige Stiftung für Boden, Ökologie und Wohnen

Stiftung trias is a non-profit foundation established in 2002 and registered as a legal foundation under civil law in the foundation register of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (No. 21.13.01.02-304), with thematic focuses on land, ecology, and communal living. By acquiring land and granting it under hereditary building rights, it permanently protects areas from speculation and promotes social-ecological housing, work, and nature conservation projects. With over 250 donors, it operates as a professionally oriented community foundation, facilitates knowledge transfer through publications, events, and its own housing projects portal, and directly reinvests income from hereditary building rights fees and endowments into new funding projects.

The trias Foundation understands land and soil as common goods that must remain permanently accessible to all people. Its mission is to prevent land speculation and to enable social and ecological housing and nature conservation projects through sustainable asset management within the hereditary building right. It is committed to gathering and sharing practical experience in order to continuously improve the framework conditions and practice of land use oriented towards the common good.

Non-profit initiatives and organizations that implement community living arrangements with a socio-ecological focus are supported, such as cooperatives, inclusion or refugee projects, as well as environmental and climate protection measures in residential contexts (e.g., tree planting, green roofs, de-sealing). Target groups also include educational institutions and projects that disseminate knowledge on soil issues, sustainable construction, and common-good-oriented land use. Stiftung trias works directly with project initiators or in partnership with nature conservation organizations.
