About the funder

The Stiftung Tumorforschung im Kopf-Hals is a non-profit, volunteer-run foundation based in Wiesbaden. Since its establishment in 1992 by renowned physicians and entrepreneurs, it has supported innovative research projects focused on early detection, therapy optimization, and preservation of quality of life in malignant tumors of the head and neck region. With an endowment of over EUR 5 million, it annually funds seed financing, scientific awards such as the Alexander Karl Prize, and endowed professorships. All donations and contributions flow 100% into research, as internal administrative costs are covered by volunteers.

Mission & Vision

The foundation is committed to improving the quality of life of patients with head and neck tumors by financially supporting outstanding young scientists in building their research careers. The goal is to achieve groundbreaking long-term advances in tumor research through modern therapeutic approaches, preservation of organ function and social participation, as well as continuous growth of the foundation’s capital.

Target groups

The foundation's funding programs are aimed at young researchers from universities and non-profit research institutions in Germany and the neighboring German-speaking regions of Europe. Projects focusing on the diagnosis, therapy, and prevention of tumors in the head and neck area are supported, provided they have the potential for follow-up funding and scientific publications.
