About the funder
The STIFTUNG VAN MEETEREN was founded in 1980 by the Düsseldorf entrepreneur Udo van Meeteren and is currently managed by the van Meeteren family. It is a legal, non-profit foundation based in Düsseldorf and is administered by the German Foundation Center within the Donors' Association. The foundation's purpose is to promote science and research, international understanding through youth exchange programs, cultural objectives, social and charitable initiatives, as well as nature and environmental protection. The foundation focuses its funding primarily on Düsseldorf and the surrounding area as well as the Eifel region, supporting both its own projects and those of other tax-privileged organizations.

Mission & Vision
The STIFTUNG VAN MEETEREN exclusively and directly pursues charitable and benevolent purposes within the meaning of the German Tax Code. It supports projects in the fields of science and research (25%), social and charitable causes (25%), nature and environmental protection (15%), as well as international understanding through youth exchange and cultural purposes (35%). The focus of funding is in Düsseldorf and the surrounding area as well as in the Eifel region. The foundation exclusively supports non-profit organizations with proven charitable status and aims to sustainably promote selected projects with a significant financial scope.
Target groups
The target group of the STIFTUNG VAN MEETEREN consists of non-profit organizations and public-law entities that can demonstrate their non-profit status and implement projects in the fields of science, research, culture, international understanding, social and charitable purposes, as well as nature and environmental protection. Private individuals are excluded from funding. The foundation focuses on initiatives in Düsseldorf, the surrounding region, and the Eifel.
