About the funder
The Foundation for the Preservation of Ecclesiastical Monuments in Germany (KiBa) is a legal ecclesiastical and non-profit foundation based in Hanover. Founded in 1997 by the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), it supports structural measures for the preservation, restoration, and reinstatement of usability of historic church buildings of the EKD and its member churches. Mission & Vision
Our mission is the preservation of the stone witnesses of ecclesiastical architectural heritage in Germany. We are committed to the permanent conservation of historic church buildings, promote substance-preserving restorations, and the expansion of their use under the guiding principles of sustainability and climate responsibility. In doing so, we strengthen community and church use as the core of every parish.
Target groups
Eligible for funding are church congregations of the member churches of the Evangelical Church in Germany as well as equivalent church organizations and institutions. We target congregations that cannot finance their architectural monuments on their own and support structural preservation, restoration, and utilization measures, taking into account monument conservation, ecological, and climate-friendly construction.
