About the funder

The Foundation for the Promotion of International Scientific Relations of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main has been supporting the scientific collaboration of university members with foreign partners for over 40 years. The focus is not on charitable purposes but on enabling and facilitating academic exchanges, guest stays, and joint projects to enrich intercultural exchange and build sustainable networks. To achieve its objectives, the foundation supports, among other things, research projects, conferences, publications, and the operation of guesthouses for international scientists in Frankfurt.

Mission & Vision

The foundation aims to advance the internationalization of Goethe University Frankfurt by promoting dialogue and cooperation between German and international researchers. It sees itself as a bridge between cultures and disciplines and contributes to strengthening global research partnerships through targeted financial and organizational support.

Target groups

Eligible for funding are doctoral graduates and research staff of Goethe University Frankfurt as well as their international cooperation partners. The foundation is particularly aimed at scientists and project groups seeking to initiate or deepen transnational research collaborations. Also supported are events and publications that serve to intensify scientific relations, as well as guest researchers accommodated in one of the foundation's guesthouses.
