Private foundation

About the funder

Stiftunglife is a non-profit foundation founded in 1989 by Jürgen Gessner, which sees itself as a dedicated circle of friends. With an initial capital of around 21 million euros, the foundation generates interest and rental income that is fully invested weekly in a variety of funding projects. All employees and the board work on a voluntary basis and cover their own travel expenses, ensuring that donations and proceeds benefit the projects in full. Stiftunglife supports projects in the areas of education (school construction and operation in Myanmar, scholarships in Myanmar and Ukraine), social affairs (financial support for 232 food banks in Germany), humanitarian aid (relief shipments to Ukraine), as well as climate and environment (tree planting, bee and butterfly meadows).

Mission & Vision

Stiftunglife promotes life and the environment by initiating and supporting projects in the fields of education, climate and environmental protection, as well as humanitarian aid. We believe in the power of voluntary commitment, transparency, and independence, and are dedicated to creating sustainable, forward-looking solutions for disadvantaged people and our planet.

Target groups

Our funding programs target non-profit initiatives and organizations as well as directly support those in need in Germany, Myanmar, and Ukraine. This includes food banks and social institutions in Germany, schools and educational providers in Myanmar, refugees and students in Ukraine, as well as environmental and climate protection projects such as tree planting campaigns and bee pastures. We support individuals, groups, and associations that contribute to the promotion of life and environmental protection through innovative and sustainable approaches.
