Studienstiftung der Bergischen Universität Wuppertal
About the funder
The Studienstiftung of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal is an internal university institution that supports students of BUW facing financial hardships. It awards monthly scholarships of up to €300 for one academic year to ensure the academic success of students who are not eligible for BAföG due to their personal circumstances or social engagement. The awards are granted based on clear allocation criteria and within three funding categories (A–C), which address various exclusion reasons from the standard BAföG funding.

Mission & Vision
The Studienstiftung of the University of Wuppertal is committed to equal opportunities in higher education by providing prompt and unbureaucratic support to dedicated students facing financial hardship. It promotes courage, perseverance, and determination by recognizing students who overcome obstacles in their life paths and enabling them to successfully continue their studies.
Target groups
Students of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal who have been regularly enrolled for at least one year, have not yet obtained a degree in their current course of study, and have not reached the age of 35 are eligible for funding. They could receive BAföG but are not entitled to it for one of the three defined reasons – foreign nationality without standard BAföG eligibility, change of study program or exceeding deadlines, or exceeding the maximum funding duration. A successful academic progress is required, taking into account their personal circumstances or social engagement.
