Sybil-Westendorp-Stiftung

The Sybil-Westendorp Foundation is a private foundation closely associated with the International Women Composers Library located in the historic Nicolai House in Unna. Its purpose is to collect, research, and preserve the oeuvre of the Hamburg composer Lotte Orthmann (artist name Sybil Westendorp) as well as other compositions by women for posterity. Furthermore, the foundation supports the performance of rare works by women composers in the concert series "Women Composers Concerts," thereby contributing to the visibility and recognition of women composers in the musical landscape.

The mission of the Sybil-Westendorp Foundation is to preserve the musical heritage of female composers – foremost the works of Sybil Westendorp – to research them academically, and to make them accessible to a broad audience. Through funding, concerts, and archival work, the foundation advocates for equality and appreciation of female composers.

The funding activities of the Sybil Westendorp Foundation are aimed at musicologists and archivists engaged in research on female composers; musicians and event organizers wishing to perform rarely played works by female composers; the interested public seeking access to the holdings of the International Women Composers Library; as well as institutions and projects dedicated to the promotion of women in music.
