About the funder

The taz Panter Foundation was established in 2008 by taz readers as a non-profit foundation to promote critical, independent, and inclusive journalism as well as civil society engagement. It supports national and international journalists through workshops in regions with restricted press freedom, offers the Panter Volunteership to foster young talents without traditional training, awards the annually endowed Panter Prize for civil society engagement, and enables persecuted journalists to take a break for recovery and networking through the Rest & Resilience Fellowship. By 2024, the foundation has carried out projects in over 20 countries and supported more than 200 journalists.
