About the funder

The Udo Lindenberg Foundation was established in 2006 in Calw, the birthplace of Hermann Hesse, by the artist Udo Lindenberg. Under the umbrella of the "Foundation for the Region – Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw," it is committed to social and humanitarian projects worldwide. Its focus lies on educational and water projects in Africa, the Panikpreis song competition for young musicians and lyricists, as well as the program "Hinterm Horizont macht Schule," which imparts awareness of German-German history. The foundation combines cultural work with sustainable development cooperation and advocates for tolerance, understanding of democracy, and global justice.

Mission & Vision

The Udo Lindenberg Foundation supports individuals and initiatives beyond the mainstream who advocate for the vulnerable and underrepresented. It believes in the transformative power of culture, education, and nonprofit collaboration. Our goal is to open up new perspectives, support emerging artists, and improve sustainable living conditions in disadvantaged regions.

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at students, teachers, and communities in Africa who require access to clean water and education; young musicians and lyricists from Germany who participate in the Panik Prize with provocative, independent works; as well as schools and youth in East and West Germany who wish to develop historical-political awareness through the project "Hinterm Horizont macht Schule."
