About the funder

The Umweltpreis Foundation of Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw was established in 1995 by the then Kreissparkasse Calw. Every two years, the foundation awards the Umweltpreis during a public event, with a main prize of EUR 10,000 and additional awards totaling up to EUR 20,000. Outstanding achievements in research, development, and innovation in environmental protection and health prevention, as well as committed knowledge transfer on ecological, technical, and socioeconomic interrelationships, are recognized. The foundation's board of trustees consists of members from science, journalism, and regional administration.

Mission & Vision

The Environmental Award Foundation promotes innovations and commitment that advance the protection of natural resources while simultaneously raising awareness of environmental and climate protection in business, science, and society. It provides a platform for recognizing outstanding projects and aims to stimulate sustainable development in the Northern Black Forest region and beyond.

Target groups

Applications are welcome from individuals, working groups, associations, companies, public institutions, schools, and universities. The focus is on projects and initiatives from the Northern Black Forest region; highly innovative contributions from across Germany are accepted if they can be utilized in the region. The funding opportunities target actors who develop technical, scientific, and socio-economic solutions or actively promote environmental education and communication.
