Universitätsstiftung "Die besten Köpfe für die Universität Regensburg"

The University Foundation "The Best Minds for the University of Regensburg" is a non-independent foundation under the umbrella of the Regensburg University Foundations. It was established in 2004 by individuals and companies from academia and industry to promote excellent research and teaching at the University of Regensburg in the long term. Grants from the foundation’s capital income are provided for appointment procedures of outstanding scientists, retention negotiations, and initiatives to improve research and teaching. The foundation is deeply rooted in the region and welcomes additional endowments from university alumni and supporters to further strengthen the university’s international and interdisciplinary profile.

The University Foundation “The Best Minds for the University of Regensburg” is committed to supporting the recruitment and retention of outstanding scholars at the University of Regensburg through private funding. It promotes excellence in research and teaching, enhances the university’s competitiveness in international rankings, and creates optimal conditions for students and early-career researchers.

The funding is aimed at professors and private lecturers at the University of Regensburg, particularly outstanding scholars who are to be recruited or retained through appointment and retention procedures. Furthermore, the foundation supports initiatives that sustainably promote student teachers, doctoral candidates, and graduates in their academic and scientific development.
